2019
Rough Monkeys remain unbeaten after Thunder Bees suffer major meltdown on the mound. The Bees looked as if they may pull off the upset by forcing the first extra inning game of the season, but Bardsley's dominance was too much for them to handle as the Rough Monkeys handily flipped a 5-5 tie into a 11-5 win in the 7th inning.
The Thunder Bees looked to rebound against a team made up entirely of rookies.....missing their reigning MVP captain and first round draft pick. Some thought this would be the first major blowout of the season. Well it was a blowout, but in the opposite direction. Bill made the smart decision pretending to have a tennis match and telling The Steve that the game was in Wichita, KS as this super team of rookies (temporarily known as The Replacements) easily added their first win to the Difficult Ducks column by a score of 11-2.
Parker Putnam and Collin Supersprague both broke out of their early season slumps already as they easily won game one by a score of 6-2 over Nick Bass's Lukewarm Toads. Bass put the hotness back into the toads' name though with a 7-6 walkoff HR in game two. Nick Bass will be temporarily known as "The Hotness"......possibly permanently. I haven't done the stats yet, but I can tell you for sure the Smitty is no longer batting over .500 (YESSSSSS!!!!)

NEW RECORD!!!! Bill Thompson made it to week 2 without striking out. And he won't be there in week 2 so his record will be even longer!
Also, Bardsley leads pretty much every category. Shocker.

Week 12
WTF!?!?!?
Game 1: The game that no one wanted to watch. I mean....Bill on one team, Smitty on the other.....how much uglier does it get? Answer- It doesn't. BUT, this game turned out to be the best one of the night despite featuring two of the leagues least likeable players. This one was close from start to finish, as no pitcher gave up more than 2 runs in an inning, even with Bass playing. And there were only 3 out of 12 half innings where no runs were scored. These teams battled back and forth for the first 4 innings and came into the 5th with a game tied at 4. Top of the 5th Roger opened the inning pitching with 2 immediate fly outs, and he was finally in position to be the hero his team needs him to be. Gabe Patriquin aka Big Chili aka Razzle Dazzle 'Em aka The Funk wasn't having it though as he placed a perfect ball at the base of the left field foul pole (the only place in left field that a defender wasn't standing). Then William was up - OH SHIT......that's what I am assuming was going through Roger's head when he saw the slugger who had already hit for the cycle in this game come up to the plate. OH SHIT was right, as William swung and grunted so hard that now there is a brown streak in his favorite shorts and the ball towered out of the park to make the game 6-4. A few more homers like that Bill and your shorts will match your team color. The Ding Dongs went on to win 7-5, with Bill pitching the save.
Game 2: Uhhhhh....guys? What the F happened here? Scared Hitless came into this game on a 4-game losing streak, recording 18 runs while allowing 43. While the Grim Sweepers had scored a whopping 62 over the course of their last 5 games. Somehow Roger and Co. held the juggernaut that is the Grim Sweepers to 5 hits and just 1 run, while posting a 6maybe5-1 win. I am going to chalk this one up to Jake tying Bardsley's shoes together, the reflection off Smitty's forehead being above league standards, Joe feeling bad for Roger, and Bardsley being so tall that we had to look up rules online. Or is Scared Hitless indeed the better team?........Nah. Smitty's on it.
Game 3: The Blue Bomber(s) came out guns blazin' in this one. With none of my actual teammates there, I selected Bardsley as my right-handed sidekick, despite watching him have possibly his worst overall game just minutes before. And boy was it a good choice, with an 8 run first inning, 3 robbed HR's by Bardsely (crashing through the fence on all of them), and holding Brian hitless at the plate for the first time in his career, Wendell-Lites Part Deuce were no match for this dynamic duo. As the Blue Bomber(s) coasted to a 12-1 win, improving their record to .500. And congratulations to Righty-Bardsley, as he is not far away from leading the Blue Bombers in batting average on the season.
Week 11
Game 1: "The Steve, The Steve, The Steve!" This is what the crowd was chanting all game, while The Steve was putting on a show. He started off with a bang, recording a triple, double, and homer in his first three at bats and he managed to scrounge up a measely single in the 4th inning for the cycle. The Steve ended up batting 7/9 with 3 HR's and 10 RBI. With Brian Smith struggling at the plate though, this game looked like it could be up for grabs by Scared Hitless. In fact, they were winning 8-6 at one point. Holy shit! Too bad games last more than 2.5 innings. This team has the talent, they just can't seem to all put it together during the same games (nicest thing I'll say all year about them). In the end, Wendell-Lites Part Deuce dropped a deuce on Scared Hitless with a 17-9 commanding win.
Game 2: This is the game we all the fans came to see. Or they would have if we had any fans. The Steve picked up right where he left off, hitting a 2 run shot in his first at bat to put Wendell-Lites Part Deuce up early. The Grim Sweepers managed to put a few base hits together in the bottom of the first to make it a 1 run deficit. In the 3rd inning Kris got a taste of what it would be like to have a good Smitty as a big brother, as Brian smashed a solo shot off of him to bring their lead to 3-1. Bardsley wasn't about to let Parker and his fancy new pitches pull away though, as he smashed a 2-run shot in the bottom of the 3rd to tie the game at 3. Top 4 - current cy wiffle leader Joe Love on the mound, the inning starts out, walk out, walk. Parker and crew needed to do some damage here, as they would still have to face Joe another inning. The Steve is up to bat, Brian on first base, Parker on second. The Steve hits a hard line drive to left field fence and the runners take off. As we are all expecting Parker to round 3rd and head for home, he stops on a dime at 3rd. And it was a good thing, because the throw from left field was perfect, and could have easily been the 3rd out. Parker was up to bat next. 2 outs, bases loaded. Recently recovered from a senior citizen slump. In comes the pitch......GRAND SALAMI!!! Parker manages to put his team up 7-3 and they go on to win 9-3. Still the only team to beat the Grim Sweepers. It looks like these two will be battling for the 1 seed all year, while we all try to keep ourselves out of the play-in series at 4-5 seeds.
Game 3: You had to be there.
Week 10
Sorry it took me a while, I just got back from picking up all the homerun balls. ALL 45 OF THEM!!! That is how many homeruns were hit this week. Zero thanks to Roger and his misfits. Because that's how many they had....zero.
Game 1: The first game of the day was a makeup game, and it wasn't that fun. Maybe it was if you were a Grim Sweeper because they demolished the Blue Bombers. I might have to start calling us the Blue Bunters. Harry started off hot with a HR in each of his 4 at bats, and we had 7 HR's total....but only 11 runs. Compared to their 22.
Game 2: This game was actually an exciting one. Bill had a breakthrough game going 8/11 and had 3 HRs off Bardsley all in one inning, plus one off Mitch. It wasn't enough though as Bardsley went 8/10 with 5 HRs of his own because he is better than Bill. Mitch racked up 7 RBI with 3 HRs, and Joe shut The Ding Dongs down for the save - winning 13-11 and boosting their record to 10-1. Be careful guys. The curse of the 1 seed is real.
Game 3: OUCH! Bass....you played the best and worst game of your life in the same game. 8/13 batting, 1 double, 2 triples, 3 HRs, 8 RBI, 5 runs scored, and you struck out zero times! Thats a cycle and then some! Unfortunately you also had to pitch. What an adventure that was......17 runs in 1 inning.....know what that is for an ERA??? 102.00. That is impressive. We can't give you all the credit for that though. The Bash Brothers (Parker & Brian) were nearly unstoppable that game. Parker batted 8/9 with 5 HR, 8 RBI, 9 runs, and Brian batted 10/12 with 5 HR, 9 RBI, 9 runs. That is a tough combo to beat. The Steve and Jr. added 3 and 2 HRs respectively also for a total of 15 HRs for the team. So mix all that shit together, add a few cigs from Gabes mouth, a couple shots from the Dr., a handfull of Bud Light Limes, and Bill's frustration and you get a big ol' 29-14 spanking. Wendell-Lites Part Deuce being the spankers, and The Ding Dongs being the spankees. Congrats guys, you really spanked those Ding Dongs
Game 4: Well the Blue Bombers were on a terrible 5-game losing streak, so thank God they got to play against this squad for the 3rd time during that span. We all knew this streak wasn't going to be broken against any of the other teams. After giving up 63 total runs through the previous three games, the Blue Bombers finally held a team to a low score of 3 runs. Jake did all he could offensively for Scared Hitless, batting 4/7...but his so called veteran teammates struggled to go 2/15 combined at the plate and they ultimately fell 3-8....same as their record.
Technically Week 9
Been a while since I've been on this page. I've been busy doing commissioner-type things. Like drinking and planting rocks in the field. Anyways here is the write up.
Game 1: Always a bittersweet feeling watching Smitty get his ass handed to him, but seeing Bardsley get another tally in the win column. The Grim Sweepers are running away with the 1st place lead and only one team has managed to slow them down (it wasn't this one). Grim Sweepers swept away Roger's Scared Hitless in a 12-3 win.
Game 2: Bill Thompson breaks the record for fastest exit after a game is over. Pretty sure he was in his car before the last pitch crossed the plate. The Ding Dongs managed to keep Matt Bardsley in check, but it wasn't enough as Mitch Savoie decided to be "The New Bardsley" and hit 4 dingers on route to another 12-3 win.
Game 3: W.....T......F - Can my team ever play when it isn't raining?? I knew this one would be bad from the start. First I texted Figs and asked "How are you feeling?" (We were at a wedding Sunday) and his only response was "not good." I didn't hear from him until I texted him again at about 6 and he told me his keys were in Springfield....he was in Greenfield. In the meantime I also got a text from Harry saying he hurt his back picking daisies and wouldn't make it. That left me and Jeff....the real men. We didn't quite feel like men though after we get pummeled 27-11 in the torrential sideways tsunami rain by Wendell-Lites Part Dump.
Week 4
I wasn't there so I am still brainstorming. Smitty probably blew it.
Week 3
Game 1: Jr. comes to life with 2 HR's - his first ones in a thousand games (just kidding, its actually only been 6 games). It wasn't enough though as P-Squared gave up a grand salami and 7 runs total in just one inning. The Blue Bombers got off to an early lead and hung on to win 15-11.
Game 2: Bill "Bing Bong" Thompson used his signature move, gently tapping a popup over the fence (thanks bud), and Big Willy Chili gave up 7 runs en route to a 9-5 loss to the almighty Blue Bombers. It would have been 9-2, but Harry was too focused on Big Chili's cornhole to lay the hammer down on them in the last inning.
Game 3: The correctly-handed Smitty brother continues his impressive streak of no runs allowed, while pitching 2 innings in every game so far. Doesn't hurt to have a 13 ft tall spider monkey behind you. Still waiting for Mitch to get tired of him calling him off every easy ball and tripping him on purpose. Scared Hitless got off to an early 2-0 lead, but obviously that wasn't enough because there is still a zero in their win column. They ended up losing 2-5. What a disapointing 2nd overall pick that left-handed kid has been. Whats his name again? Oh yeah, Shitty....never gets old.
Week 2
Game 1: Brian Smith smashed another grand slam off Roger Sr. on way to a 10-4 route of Scared Hitless. Roger had hopes that his center fielder would knock it down for a lowly single, until he realized his star fielder is only 3 feet tall.
Game 2: Shitty Smitty's long lost owner Bill "Loves Ding Dongs" Thompson gave Smitty & Co. a glimpse of possible victory, as Scared Hitless lead 5-2 early, but The Ping Pongs came roaring back when rookie Tom "Jacked Spartan" Roux jacked another spartan style grand slam. The Fling Flongs went on to win 10-6. I wish there were a way that Smitty could keep losing, but his teammates could win. Oh wait....there is.....cut his ass Roger!
Game 3: Do you ever have a game where you feel like you lost entirely because of you? Me too. It was this game. The Blue Bombers were up 8-2 until I decided to pitch. I may as well have been throwing the pitches over the fence and saving myself the agony of watching Matt Bardsley smack 3 HR's off me. This game for sole posession of first place came down to the wire, and Mitch had himself a MONSTER 23 foot walkoff bloop single that I, YES I, fell down running to and nearly broke Jeff's knee with my head. DOH! Grim Sweepers won 14-13
Week 1
Game 1: The Wendell-Lites reunion (also known as "Part Deuce") gets off to a hot start as the returning legend Brian "Better Smitty" Smith smashes a grand slam in his first official game back since leaving the league following the 2011 season. Wendell-Lites Part Deuce went on to defeat Scared Hitless 7-2 in the opening game of the 2017 season. Shitty Smitty walked a guy.
Game 2: The Grim Sweepers didn't let The Deuce (that's what I'm calling them from now on) enjoy their victory for long, as they held them in check with a 4-2 win.
Game 3: The Ding Dongs suck. Tom is OK.
Season Starts Monday May 1st!
Teams are set!
Team 1 - Parker, Brian, The Steve, Roger Jr.
Team 2 - Roger, Smitty, Dave, Jake
Team 3 - Bardsley, Joe L, Mitch, Kris
Team 4 - Bill, Tom, Bass, Gabe
Team 5 - Kevin, Jeff, Harry, Figs
2016
PWL 2016 Finals:
Matt Bardsley does his best to keep his team in game one by smashing 6 HR's (1 short of a playoff record) and recording all 7 of his teams RBI, but it wasn't enough as the Lords of No Rings took game one 11-7.
Game 2 was a different story, with every player of The Legends & Their Goons hitting at least one HR on their way to a 9-6 victoy.
In a game where the Lords of No Rings scored no runs after the 2nd inning, they were finally able to keep their opponents' offense at bay, holding on for a 3-1 win to take the series 2 games to 1.
Kevin McHugh, Collin Sprague, and Roger Hamlett all won their first championship.......and the curse of the 1 seed remains...
Semi-Finals Week 2:
Wiff This got off to a hot start, besting The Legends & Their Goons 9-8. The top seed came alive though in games 2 and 3 with 19-6 and 17-7 wins. This sets up a scenario where something that has never happened before must happen. Either Kevin McHugh gets his first ever championship.....or the curse of the 1 seed is broken. (Queue intense music)
Semi-Finals Week 1:
Lords of No Rings take game one 2-1 in a pitchers' duel and punch their ticket to the finals with a 14-10 win in game two. They will face the winner of The Legends & Their Goons (1) v.s. Wiff This(5)
Playoff Round 1 Results:
Hip Hop Anonymous takes game one in 8 innings 5-4
Wiff This easily takes game two 6-1
After battling back from a 0-7 deficit in game three, Hip Hop Anonymous falls short 6-8 as Wiff This earns the spot against top seeded The Legends & Their Goons
Kyle Smith ties record of 3 snipes in one game.
Matt Bardsley ties record of 11 snipes in a season.
Week 20 Scores:
Lords of No Rings takes the 2 seed after defeating The Ding Dongs 12-3.
The Ding Dongs win 9-6 over Wiff This.

Sprague hits a 7th inning walkoff to lift Lords of No Rings 7-5 over Wiff This
Big Chili holds back Wiff This in the final inning to hang on for a 11-8 win for The Legends & Their Goons

Week 18 Scores:
Lords of No Rings 8-6 over Wiff This
Brian Smith makes a guest appearance to lead Hip Hop Anonymous 10-3 over Lords of No Rings
The Ding Dongs 10-3 over The Legends & Their Goons
Week 17 Scores:
Hip Hop Anonymous hangs on to win 11-9 over The Ding Dongs (Ross hit a HR off Bill :) See what I did there? I made a smiley face out of the parenthesis. By the way it was a 2-run so congrats Bill you blew it.
Wiff This comes alive in a 15-14 shootout win over Hip Hop Anonymous, ending with a 3-run walkoff HR by The Steve.
The Legends & Their Goons hold on to win 9-7 over Lords of No Rings after leading 9-0 early.
Been while since I did an actual write up on here. Sorry about that - been really busy not feeling like doing it. Welp here it goes. And remember - all news subjects are based on 100% true ideas in my head and about 16% actual facts.
The Ding Dongs on the verge of becoming best defensive team in PWL history
Currently sitting at an average runs against of 4.81 per game, The Ding Dongs are slightly ahead of the best full season ARA of 5.58 set by Dan Figueroa's Team Teabag in 2014.
Bill Thompson hatches master plan to solidify Cy Wiffle lead
While we all know Bill has been pretending to be training for the olympic tennis team when his team comes across the hard hitters of The Legends & Their Goons, Bill has stepped up his game in making sure his Cy Wiffle rating stays impossibly low while 2nd place teammate Kris Smith suffers the wrath of the mastermind's evil plan. The newest weapon in Dr Evil's arsenal is to encourage his players to try to snipe every runner headed to first base while he runs along side them trying to grab their ass, effectively allowing all other runners and often the batter to easily move into scoring position and greater distancing his ERA. Maybe if Kyle would throw with the correct hand this would have a chance at being a legitimate strategy, but until then I only see Kris Smith's Cy Wiffle rating along with his pride melting away.

New rules
New rule for pinch running:
-A player that is too hurt to run may request a pinch runner, but the runner must be the farthest available batter in the batting order, and must take either a base directly behind another runner or the base closest to home. They may not put themself in position to force ghost runners home.
-If there are no pinch runners available, the player may be replaced by a ghost runner, but no other runners already on base can take that place until after the next batter.
New rules for new fence:
-If a batted ball rolls untouched under the new fence and is not easily reachable, the result is an automatic double, and runners automatically advance 2 bases. -If a fielder touches the ball, and it proceeds to roll under the fence, the ball is still in play and the fielder must deal with it (but try not to destroy the fence).
New rule for slapping balls back to the baseline:
-Slapping balls back in front of the baseline only can result in a ground out if the original player to slap the ball is the one who fields the ball in the end. Even if the fielder is playing directly behind the singles line, they must finish the play. They cannot bat it to the pitcher for an out, unless they were standing in front of the line when they first touched the ball.
New rules for late players:
-When a team that is batting has a player show up late, that player is added to the lineup as soon as someone spots their car pulling in. If they are next to bat, the teams must wait for them to be ready.
-When a team that is fielding has a player show up late they may delay play to wait for him to join in the field if they choose to, as soon as they see his car pull in.
Teams
The Legends & Their Goons- Matt Bardsley, Scott Boudreau, Gabe Patriquin, Cliff Martin
The Ding Dongs - Bill Thompson, Kyle Smith, Nick Bass, Kris Smith
Hip Hop Anonymous - Matt Spear, Parker Putnam, Andrew Desousa, Dan Figueroa

PRESEASON
-The 2016 season is closing in on us fast PWL veterans & newcomers! With the season just around the corner, we have a couple updates for you on what is new. First off, the league fee is now $20 (bumped up from $15). This is to help afford the second new thing....a new fence! A mesh breakaway fence that pops back up after you turds run over it. That's right! No more zip ties, dangerous 2x4's, or twine tied to logs holding our rag tag homerun fence up. A real, durable, SAFE(r) fence! And here's some great news for one of PWL's most dedicated players (Kyle "Shitty" Smith) - the fence is only 3 feet tall! That means Shitty might do so much as quadruple his HR total from 2014! Which was.......6.
Just kidding Kyle, we're gonna move the fence deeper to keep your raging pythons at bay.
Now on to the next thing - DPOG (Defensive Player Of the Game). This will now be awarded to one player at the end of every game, and will make it much easier to name the Defensive Player Of the Year......DPOY obviously.
Next up, clutch points. That's right. That ridiculous idea Bill has been throwing out there for the past 2 seasons after every homerun he hits with 2 outs (which was all the time because Shitty was on his team). These points will be awarded based on a very legitimate predetermined system that I will make up on the fly to benefit myself because obviously with all of my championship trophies I'm the most clutch PWLer in all the land.
2015
FINALS
-Matt McHugh remains the only player in PWL history to win 3 championships and THE CURSE OF THE 1 SEED continues, as The Ding Dongs small balled Kraken Balls to death 2 games to 0 in the finals. On a cold night with the ball not traveling well, The Ding Dongs played to their strengths and kept the ball down - piling on both pull and opposite field single after single and double after double to keep Kraken Balls outfielders from ever getting into a comfortable zone. Kraken Balls couldn't get anything going in the first game. As primarily a homerun hitting team, they just weren't able to adapt to the weather as homeruns were turning into fly balls and singles, leading to a 2-13 game 1 defeat. In game 2 Kraken Balls did a better job of mixing it up by pitching Cliff early on in the game and stringing together walks and base hits, followed by a few big 2 and 3 run homers. Going into the top of the last Kraken Balls trailed 10-12 with Bill looking to close out the series with a save. Bill's dreams were quickly squashed, however, by a 2-run game tying homer by CAPTAIN MVP Matt Spear. He was able to get out of the inning without giving up the lead though. In the bottom of the last, Smitty led off with a key double, and Bill followed with a double of his own, which Smitty booked it home on for the win. Smitty was consistent in the field and at the plate all throughout the playoffs, and earned himself his first Playoff MVP award. Look Smitty - I said something nice about you. Ass.
SEMI-FINALS
-2015 Semi-Finals are in the books, with The Ding Dongs moving on to the finals to take on #1 seed Kraken Balls after defeating The Hitmen 2 games to 1. The Ding Dongs started the series hot, scoring 5 runs in the top of the first inning of game 1, and not letting up in a 10-6 win. The Hitmen bounced back in game to by slaughtering The Ding Dongs 10-3, forcing the series to a 3rd game. The Ding Dongs regrouped and came out guns a'blazing, scoring 7 runs right off the bat. The Ding Dongs kept their foot on the gas again and went on to win game three 15-4. Coming up next we will see if Parker Putnam's Kraken Balls can break the curse of the 1 seed. If they were to do so, Parker would have his first championship since 2009, Spear would become just the 2nd player to win 3 championships, and Cliff would earn his first championship ever. On the other side, Bill Thompson's 3 seeded Ding Dongs will try to earn Bill his first ever championship in his first finals appearance, Andrew Desousa will attempt to be a champion in his first PWL season, and Smitty will try to become 2-0 in PWL championships.
SEMI-FINALS
-We will have to wait and see if the curse of the 1 seed will continue, as the top seeded Kraken Balls walloped the Cronut Crushers in games 2 and 3 of their series, after getting off to a slow start. The Cronut Crushers were able to make the series interesting right off the bat, with a 7-6 extra innings win. The only run Parker gave up in the game was a bottom of the 7th 1-out walkoff homerun to Kevin. Kraken Balls bounced back quickly though, handily winning the next two games 7-2 and 9-0. Matt Spear played like a true MVP, allowing only 3 runs pitching on the night, smashing 10 homeruns, and making difficult plays in the outfield. Kraken Balls will take on the winner of The Hitmen and The Ding Dongs in the finals.
NEW PWL LEGENDS!!
-Matt Spear and Matt Bardsley become just the 4th and 5th players in PWL to reach the Legend ranking!
PLAY-IN SERIES
-Kevin McHugh led his team to a 4-2 win in the first game of the play-in series between the Cronut Crushers and RCR. Three of the Cronut Crushers four runs came on a 3-run HR by Kevin in just the first inning. Dan Figueroa battled through sickness to come through in big spots in the outfield, allowing Kevin and Gabe to give up a combined zero runs on the mound.
-Game two of the series seemed like it was all but in the bag for the Cronut Crushers as they were up 7-1 going into the last inning, until one run was walked in and Roger Hamlet smashed a grand slam to make it 7-6 with one out. Big Chili was able to recover though, getting a ground out and a fly out immediately after the grand slam. Thus allowing the Cronut Crushers to advance on to the semi-finals showdown with 1st seed Kraken Balls.
ALL-STAR GAME
-Kevin McHugh's team battled back from a 12-16 deficit in the final inning of the All-Star game, to go on to win 17-16 over Matt Spear's team. Bill Thompson earned his first ever All-Star MVP award and continued the streak of the 2nd ranked player on the winning team receiving the award every year. No player has ever won this award more than once.
HOMERUN DERBY
-After a strong 6 HR first round Parker Putnam exits the derby early, allowing Bill Thompson (5 HR), Kevin McHugh (4 HR), and Matt Bardsley (4 HR) to all move on to the finals. Matt Bardsley became the first player besides Matt McHugh or Bill Thompson to win the HR derby with 5 in the final round to Bill's 2 and Kevin's 1. And to think...if Parker had stayed, either Kevin McHugh or Matt Bardsley never would have even made it to the final round.
WEEK 20/PLAYOFFS
-With the regular season under wraps, Kraken Balls will head into the playoffs in first place - boasting a 15-9 record and league high +71 run differential. The Hitmen were are close second, also with a 15-9 record, and a +61 run differential. The Ding Dongs managed to salvage their season and not skid all the way from 1st place down into the play-in series, finishing with a 13-11 record and a +28 run differential. Cronut Crushers (12-12, (-15)) will square off against RCR (5-19, (-154)) in the best of three play-in series for a shot at Kraken Balls and a trip to the finals.
-Matt Bardsley held off Bill Thompson's final game Cy Wiffle push, and became 2015's Cy Wiffle. Matt also overtook the batting average lead late in the season, and became the first player other than Kevin McHugh to win Batting Average Champion since Matt McHugh did in 2012.
-Matt Spear shattered the single-season homerun record, previously 73, with an astounding 84. Earning himself his first ever Homerun King and Offensive Player of the Year awards. In 7 seasons, both of these awards have now been won by 6 different players. Matt also will be the first ever recipient of the Highest GPA trophy which features a man in a suit....holding a briefcase. You are a gentleman and a scholar Mr. Spear.
-Despite being overthrown in the batting average race, Kevin McHugh earned his first ever Running Man award, his second RBI Leader award, and became the 2nd player to receive the Top Gun award. Kevin's 11 snipes were just barely enough to hold off Parker Putnam and his 10.
-Matt Spear has selected the 4th and 5th place all-stars, Matt Bardsley and Parker Putnam respectively, as his teammates in his all-star battle with Kevin McHugh (2), Bill Thompson (3), and Roger Hamlet (6).
-Defensive Player of the Year finalists have been determined as Matt Bardsley (9 nominations), Parker Putnam (8 nominations), and Kyle Smith (8 nominations).
-League MVP finalists have been determined as Matt Spear (10 nominations), Matt Bardsley (9 nominations), and Kevin McHugh (7 nominations).
-If there is a tie for DPOY or MVP in final voting, both players will be credited with the award, but the trophy will go to whoever had more nominations. If they had the same amount of nominations also, there will be a 1v1 contest between said players for the trophy.
WEEK 19
-In a game where Matt "The Captain" Spear needed 3 homeruns to break the single season record, he blasted his way to new heights with 8 bombs in an 18-13 win over The Ding Dongs, making him the new leader in single season homeruns. This win clinched Kraken Balls spot in the playoffs as the 1-seed. He then tacked on 5 more homeruns, but it wasn't enough to to hold down the Cronut Crushers, as Kevin his 8 of his own HRs in a 21-20 Cronut Crusher win. Big Chili certainly Razzle Dazzled Em' with his stellar one-of-a-kind outfit, and hit the game winning walkoff single.
-RCR waiting around all day for the first two seemingly never-ending games to finally finish, only to be shot down 14-8 by The Hitmen. Matt Bardsley came close to becoming the only player to ever bat perfect in a game, but one strikeout put him at a 10/11 night. Bardsley still hit for another cycle and led his team to victory, clinching the 2-seed on the way.
-Smitty you suck.
WEEK 18
-What a week! The Ding Dongs and The Hitmen put the pressure on Kraken Balls, and Gabe finally came out of the woods in the form of Razzle Dazzle Em' after being lost for 12 weeks. Lets recap week 18.
-After starting what looked like it was going to be a close game, The Ding Dongs put the hammer down on RCR with 10 homeruns on route to a 23-9 win.
-Razzle Dazzle Em' seemingly didn't miss a beat as he gave up no runs in three innings and played a solid game of defense. Kevin hit a solo walkoff homerun in the bottom of the 6th for a 4-3 Cronut Crushers win over RCR. This game solidified RCR's place as the 5 seed.
-The Hitmen put a spanking on Kraken Balls after a shaky start. The Hitmen are heating up at the right time, as Matt's bat and Kris's pitching have really come to life as of late, posting an impressive 20-10 win over the 1st place Kraken Balls. This win by The Hitmen cemented the Cronut Crushers into the 4th seed.
-Matt Spear is now 3 homeruns away from breaking the single season homerun record, with 3 games left to play.
WEEK 17
-The Hitmen battle back in a bout for 2nd place against The Ding Dongs, topping them 16-15 in what felt like a playoff game.
-The Ding Dongs quickly bounced back with a 6-3 win over RCR.
-Kraken Balls (occasionally known as the Long Bombers) continue to soar with a commanding 26-3 win over the Cronut Crushers. Over the past several weeks, Putnam's Kraken Balls have really shaped up to be the team to beat. I'm sure eventually Bill and Smitty will jump all over those Balls.
WEEK 16
-RCR's double header goes south as they fall 5-11 to The Ding Dongs, and 1-29 to Kraken Balls.
-Spear makes a huge dent on his path to breaking the HR record, with yet another 10 HR game. He now sits 8 HR away from breaking the record with 5 games left to play.
-Figs makes his return to PWL after a few weeks on the moon, only to get shelled in the first inning for 15 runs, and the Cronut Crushers fell 13-25 to The Hitmen.
WEEK 14
-The Ding Dongs skid continues as they are ousted 8-4 by The Hitmen.
-Cliff Martin gets his first career TRIPLE in a 10-7 Kraken Balls win over The Hitmen.

-RCR gets payback on Cronut Crushers by playing great defense in a 5-2 win.
WEEK 11

-Dan Figueroa comes through with his first HR of the season in a 14-6 Cronut Crushers win over RCR.
-The Ding Dongs weren't the only ones doing damage as The Hitmen also found themselves on top in a double digit win, beating RCR 20-1.
WEEK 10
-Kraken Balls continue their impressive winning streak as they hold on to win 9-6 v.s. RCR
-The ever-elusive Ross Peterson returns for a 16-9 win over the 1st place Ding Dongs
-Cronut Crushers and The Hitmen have a replacement player showdown, with Kevin McHugh using Kyle Smith righty, and Kris Smith using Matt Spear lefty. This game shaped up to be more of a personal contest between Kyle and Matt, but in the end it was the Cronut Crushers who prevailed 9-2.
-With the season now half over, the standings are starting to turn as the Cronut Crushers have made a push up past RCR to the 4th seed, and Kraken Balls streak has put them hot on The Ding Dongs heels - down by just one game. The Hitmen have hit a wall as of late and are in jeopardy of relinquishing the 3 seed if they continue this pattern.
-Matt Spear continues to blast homeruns and maintain his Homerun King lead, but Kevin McHugh has passed him in the overall offensice rankings by 1 point. Meanwhile, Bill Thompson maintains a healthy lead in the Cy Wiffle ranking. Kyle Smith, Parker Putnam, Matt Bardsley, and Kevin McHugh are all neck and neck for 2nd, but none are yet a threat to Bill's lead.
WEEK 9
-Matt Spear blasts his way to 13 more HRs on his and Parker's way to a 10-6 win over the Hitmen and a 26-20 win over the Cronut Crushers. Kevin McHugh had 8 HRs of his own against the duo, but he and Dan Figueroa fell short of ending the impressive tear by the now 2nd place Kraken Balls.
-RCR had an impressive showing against current 1 seed The Ding Dongs, but their 14-10 lead in the last inning wasn't enough to hold off Bill Thompson's crew as RCR finally fell to a 16-18 defeat.
-Kyle "Smitty" Smith hit 2 Homeruns in one game <------WTF
WEEK 8
-Matt Spear and Parker Putnam have a field day with 10 and 7 HRs, respectively, as the Kraken Balls slaughter RCR 29-1. This game goes down as the 3rd biggest blowout in PWL history.
-Matt Spear fills in as a lefty replacement for the Cronut Crushers as Kevin McHugh and Spear take out The Hitmen 15-9 for the Cronut Crushers second win of the season.
-The 5:30 game wasn't the only blowout of the day - Bill Thompson blasts 7 HRs as he and Kyle Smith lead The Ding Dongs to a 29-7 demolishing of The Hitmen, further securing their lead for 1st place in the standings.
WEEK 7
-The Hitmen gain a step on The Ding Dongs with a 15-8 win over RCR, and a loss by The Ding Dongs for Cronut Crushers first win of the season (7-5).

WEEK 2
-The Hitmen bounce back as Matt Bardsley leads them to a 5-0 win over RCR.
-The Ding Dongs become the only unbeaten team with a 4-2 win over Kraken Balls and an 11-10 win over Cronut Crushers.
WEEK 1
-Parker Putnam's Kraken Balls gets off to a hot start with a 14-3 thrashing of The Hitmen.

2013
Lobsterbacks upset Jager Bombers 2 games to 1, and keep the curse of the 1 seed alive. Jager Bombers cruised through game 1 with a 10-5 win, but Lobsterbacks bounced back to win 1-0 and 8-6
Parker Putnam makes the first ever triple play in PWL....unassisted!
Finals
#1 seed Jager Bombers will square off against #3 seed Lobsterbacks Monday 9/2 at 5:30 for the PWL 2013 Finals
All-Star Weekend
-While Matt McHugh remains the only player in PWL history to win the HR Derby (Defeating Parker Putnam 13-3 in the finals), Steve Rowe earned his first ever PWL Award by winning All-Star MVP in his team's 12-9 win over Bill Thompson & Gabe Patriquin
Week 11
-With the 2nd to last week in the books, the Jager Bombers have locked up the #1 seed for the playoffs after their 16-2 win over Lobsterbacks, and 9-4 win over Homerun Burgalahs. Kevin McHugh returned with a bang, going 10/12 with 5 HR's in his first game back against Lobsterbacks, and Gabe "Razzle Dazzle Em" Patriquin put the final stamp on first place when striking out Cliff Martin to end Homerun Burgalahs 2 out rally with bases loaded. Jason Matthews showed his poise as a rookie, giving up zero runs in either game.
-Although the Lobsterbacks went down hard against the first place Jager Bombers, returning veteran Matt McHugh helped keep Kyle Smith's team's 2nd place hopes alive with their 17-6 win over the current 2nd place team - Pitch Slap. While the 1 and 4 seed are locked in, it will come down to the final few games to see which team will be the 2 seed in the first round of the playoffs, giving them home field advantage.
Week 10
-Returning slugger Mike Spooner gives Steve Rowe's Homerun Burgalahs the boost they desperately needed. Spooner's patriotic presence alone boosted teammate Jim Sault's morale enough to smack 3 HR's off of Lobsterbacks' Kyle Smith. Homerun Burgalahs cruised to their 2nd win of the year with a 7-1 win over Lobsterbacks.
-Bill Thompon continues to hold Pitch Slap afloat as the only player on the team to consistently show up. Bill and his replacement teammates made it look easy with a 4-1 win over Homerun Burgalahs and a 19-3 win over the 1st place Jager Bombers.
Week 8
-Lobsterbacks get a good jump into 2nd place with their 17-8 win over Pitch Slap and 9-5 win over Homerun Burgalahs

-Cliff Martin got his first PWL homerun on Homerun Burgalahs' way to a 6-1 lead against top ranked team Jager Bombers, but Spear's Jager Bombers clawed their way back in scoring 6 in the last to win 7-6
Player Watch!
-Bill Thompson: Bill's pitching has helped keep his team in 2nd place. Last game he pitched 3 perfect innings in Pitch Slap's win over Homerun Burgalahs. Bill has pitched the most innings (17) and has given up the least walks (5). He has also struck out the most batters (14).
-Josh Blanchard: After a slow start to the 2012 season, Josh's most recent performance propelled him onto the Player Watch list. Josh went 5/9, hitting all 3 of his first homeruns of the season. He also walked 8 times and boosted his On-Base Percentage to a league leading .638
-Gabe Patriquin: After Gabe's 5/8 showing against Lobsterbacks last week, Gabe shot himself up to the 4th highest batting average in the league. Following only veterans Kevin McHugh, Matt Spear, and Scott Boudreau. Gabe almost single handedly kept the Jager Bombers win streak alive when he was the only player that week to bat over .375 by going 5/10 with 2 HR's. Watch out for this batter when the sun starts going down.
-Steve Rowe: Steve's Homerun Burgalahs may be struggling in the win column, but Steve is doing everything he can to keep his team in. He is now tied for the lead in homeruns (19) with PWL Legend Scott Boudreau. Despite his team's record, this bat is always a force at the plate.
-Matt Spear: Matt's league leading .681 Gross Production Average has put his 1st place Jager Bombers in position to take a strong lead in the standings. It seems Spear can hurt a pitcher in any way, whether by smashing homeruns, slapping singles, or slapping away 6 pitches to draw a walk.
Week 5
-Pitch Slap remains in 2nd place with their 12-5 win over Homerun Burgalahs
-Games 2 and 3 have been postponed
Week 4
-Homerun Burgalahs get their first win under their belt, defeating Pitch Slap 4-2
-Jager Bombers fight off Homerun Burgalahs' comeback attempt, winning 13-9
-Jager Bombers take a 2 game lead with their 10-4 win over Lobsterbacks
Week 3
-Lobsterbacks hang on to win 6-4 over Homerun Burgalahs as Figs hits his first 2 homers of the season in crucial spots.
-Pitch Slap records an extremely rare shutout in their 4-0 revenge win over Lobsterbacks.
-In a fight for first place, Jager Bombers hold off Pitch Slap with an 11-6 win.
Week 2
-Pitch Slap moves into 1st place with their 15-4 thrashing of Homerun Burgalahs
-Jager Bombers bounce back from an ugly 0-1 start with a 15-8 win over Homerun Burgalahs and a 15-5 win over Lobsterbacks, hitting 8 homeruns in a row against Lobsterbacks.
Week 1
-Lobsterbacks lay a smack-down in week 1, with an 11-7 win over Homerun Burgalahs, and a 15-3 dismantling of Pitch Slap. Scott Boudreau's return from retirement was nothing short of impressive as he blasted 14 homeruns to help his team to a 2-0 start to the 2013 PWL Season.
-Pitch Slap rebounded with a 13-4 dismantling of their own against Matt Spear's Jager Bombers.

PLAYOFFS
Congratulations to The Wolfpack Strikes Back for their 2 games to 1 finals victory over Porkchop Sandwiches. The game depresses me too much to write about it.
Another good playoff series is now in the books after last night's Porkchop Sandwiches v.s. Raging Dolphins matchup. Although the Raging Dolphins started off the season slow, they got hot at the right time, and the Porkchop Sandwiches had been having trouble with them all year. So here it is. A recap of last night's madness:
Game 1: The Raging Dolphins came ready to play as they racked up 13 runs in the first 4 innings. Two homeruns by Gabe Patriquin and 3 homeruns by Nick Bass in those first 4 innings drove teammate Kyle Smith and themselves in multiple times to give the Raging Dolphins a 13-6 lead going into the 5th inning. They had the #1 seed Porkchop Sandwiches rattled.... starstruck if you will....Where was this coming from? #5 seed Raging Dolphins had the Porkchop Sandwiches trying to crawl out of their largest deficit of the season.....Then came the 5th inning. Cy Wiffle winner Ross Peterson on the mound, and all he could think about was how this team cranked 3 homers off him in the 2nd for 5 runs....Kyle started off the inning with a single, but Ross managed to record two consecutive outs right after. Then came two walks to load the bases with 2 outs. Gabe Patriquin was up to bat, and he had been crushing the ball all game long. Gabe started everyone in the field off with a worry by crushing a ball into the woods....about 3 inches foul. After multiple hard hit foul balls, Gabe crushed another to the left field foul pole.....yet it curved foul again. With bases loaded, two outs, and a full count, PWL's 2012 Cy Wiffle winner came through and forced a ground out to 3rd base. In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Porkchop Sandwiches put together a string of singles, walks, and a double by Ross Peterson to make it a 9-13 game. Top 6 - Kevin McHugh on the mound, who had only given up 1 run in his previous inning pitching (Solo homerun by Nick Bass), sat down the Raging Dolphins with a 1,2,3 inning. Now came the bottom of the 6th. Down 9-13, the Porkchop Sandwiches knew they would be in trouble in the series if they couldn't at least get themselves into an extra inning game. Ross Peterson started off the inning with a solo homerun to make it 10-13. Kevin McHugh followed it up with a solid ground out....then Nicholas Slattery walked, and Ross came through with another homer to make it 12-13. Kevin came up and, after struggling all game to get the ball in the air, hit a solo homer to tie it at 13. Big Chili caused Nick Slattery fly out on the next at bat. And just like that, the Porkchop Sandwiches were down to their last out. Ross held back from swinging at a low and outside ball to get on 1st with a walk. Kevin then came up with a single that nearly forced Ross into a fielder's choice. Then came Nick Slattery, the rookie out of Athol Unihighschool....2 on, 2 outs, all the pressure on the young rookie's shoulders. But he came through with a huge dinger over the left field tall wall to put his team ahead 1 game to 0.
Game 2: The Raging Dolphins were shocked by their 1st game collapse in the final 2 innings, and to start of the game, Ross hit a solo homer. The next 2 innings turned into a pitcher's duel, with Chili, Smitty, Ross, and Slatts all giving up 0 runs. But then in the top of the 3rd, Kevin gave up 6 runs on 2 homers by Gabe and 1 by Bass, to put his team down 1-6. From there they just couldn't recover as the Raging Dolphins held on to win 8-5....handing the Porkchop Sandwiches their only away loss of the entire season.
Game 3: The Porkchop Sandwiches started off with a bang, racking up 7 runs in the 1st inning. After that, The Raging Dolphins just never recovered. The Porkchop Sandwiches went on to win 23-9, hitting 9 homeruns in the process.
Finals Preview: Ross Peterson has finally made it to his first finals in PWL history. After finishing 2010 and 2011 as the top seeded team, Ross had always been knocked out in the first round. Kevin McHugh is looking for his first ever championship win, in a 2008 rematch v.s. Matt McHugh and Matthew Spear (better known as the Robocop-Rhino duo). This is the first time since 2009 that the #1 seed has made it to the finals, and the #1 seed has NEVER won the championship. Will history repeat itself? Or will the Porkchop Sandwiches break the curse of the 1 seed. The wolves are hungry....but do they like their porkchops in sandwich form? We'll find out next week.
PORKCHOP SANDWICHES......THE WOLFPACK STRIKES BACK.....the conclusion of a grueling 2012 season
PWL playoffs have begun, and they begun with a bang. In game 1, Sons of Pitches started off hot, with Wade Jones hitting 3 homeruns in his first 4 at bats. Sons of Pitches jumped out to an 8-1 lead and it was starting to look like Matt McHugh's wolves should start focusing on game 2 before the first was over, but Matthew "Rhino" Spear wasn't having it. Spear smashed 4 homeruns into the trees, made a diving catch on a line drive down the line, and gave up only 1 run pitching to keep his team in it. Spear's ability to take the reins and lead his team gave them the spark they needed, as J-Man leaped and galloped in the outfield, Matt McHugh caught fire at the plate, and Jimmy Hendricks came up with what might go down as the most clutch hit in PWL history: down 11-12 coming into the bottom of the last inning, Jimmy Hendricks was up to bat and Collin Sprague was on the mound. Jimmy, who had been hitless all game, swung at Collin's first pitch, and put his team right in position to win by smacking it right into the bushes over the left field fence. That's right, a Jimmy Hendricks homerun to send his team into extra innings. What a way to hit your first career homerun Jimmy. To start off the 7th, J-Man took only 4 batters, striking out Collin and Wade to end the top of the 7th. To start off the bottom of the 7th, Josh Blanchard took the mound and as fate would have it, Matt McHugh took one swing in the bottom of the 7th to end the game with a walkoff homer to center.
The Wolfpack Strikes Back went on to win game two 8-5 and have earned a spot in the finals where they will face the winner of the series between juggernaut Porkchop Sandwiches and the red hot Raging Dolphins. The Porkchop Sandwiches set a new record this year for least runs allowed per game, but the Raging Dolphins aren't phased as they split their games 2-2 v.s. the Porkchop Sandwiches and are coming off of their highest scoring game of their season where they blasted Electron Bombardment out of the playoffs with a 26-8 win.
The Raging Dolphins bring the fire at the right time and win their 4v5 seed play-in game 26-8 over Electron Bombardment.
Matt McHugh remains the only player to ever win the Homerun Derby, ousting Collin Sprague and Wade Jones in the final round.
Collin Sprague hits 5 HR's to lead Matt McHugh's All-Stars (Matt McHugh, Collin Sprague, Parker Putnam, & Kyle Smith) to a 16-15 win over Kevin McHugh's All-Stars (Kevin McHugh, Ross Peterson, Dan Putnam, Gabe Patriquin)

NEW RULE:In a game where it is 4v2, the 4-man team may have their 4th player field as the catcher behind the strike zone with the ability to catch foul balls as outs. This is due to a distinct advantage to having a 2-man lineup and disadvantage to having a 4-man lineup.
Notable milestones from week 2:
Matt Spear reaches his 100th career walk (most all-time)
Ross Peterson got his 200th career hit in PWL
Players to watch:
Steve Rowe: In only his 2nd game ever in PWL, Rowe has knocked 7 balls out of the park and leads his team with 16 RBI.
Collin Sprague: After taking a few years off from PWL, Sprague now leads his team with a .524 batting average and .600 on-base percentage.
Dan Putnam: Dan is no rookie to PWL, but in his first game of the season Dan led his team with a .500 batting average and had all of his team's RBI.
Josh Patriquin: After an 0/4 start to his 2012 season, J-Man bounced back with a very respectable .429 batting average in his next game.
Gabe Patriquin: Although his bat was seemingly non-existent in his PWL debut, Big Chili was a force at the mound. Out of the three batters he faced, none made it to 1st base, and one didn't even make contact. Let's see if he can keep this up next week, and hopefully he and his team will find their bats.
Matt Spear: Despite the jokes about Spear's pitching accuracy, this kid hasn't allowed a run or even a hit yet this season. This may be due to the ball's uncanny ability to do something different every time he throws it. Or is it his ability?.....Probably not, but regardless...its working.
Week 2: Sons of Pitches now sit in 1st place with their 13-1 thrashing of the Raging Dolphins
